MELISSA here!

I am an interaction and UX designer with leadership experience. I want to create experiences that make people smile from delight. I am particularly interested in physical interaction, inclusion and sustainability.

I will be graduating in the spring of 2020, with an MSc. in Interactive Media Technology, and a 5 year degree in engineering.

I am a people person and a planner through and through and somehow this combination has made me passionate about leadership. I intuitively take on leadership roles and would love to be a creative director or run my own company one day. I find that in leadership one of the most important things is to listen to everyone, even those who don't speak up.

Human-computer interaction is where it all begins and ends and iterates.

I find it vastly interesting to discover how people relate to technologies and how I as a designer can create better user experiences by learning about people. I have experiences working with different user research methodologies, and particularly like participatory interviews or evaluations where I am not only asking questions but learning and involving the participants in the process. When it comes to the creating part I like to design both digital products and work with physical prototyping.

I have had a passion for writing as long as I can remember. It is the one thing that can feed my soul and also drain me emotionally.

I get excited about all types of writing, writing essays or reports, copy for slides and manuscripts for presentations. But the real fire is in the personal things I write, my poetry and fictional pieces. I have written a novel, a coming of age fiction, and am currently working on my second one.

Leadership is about knowing people, keeping a level head and keeping track of that to-do list.
